EIDOS Arts Development Foundation presented "EXPERIMENT №1" that became a “Public Space 07-08” grant program finalist.

EIDOS continues its politics of artistic interventions into the city landscape as part of the “Public Space” grant curator project program that aims to turn the city into a territory of the arts. “Experiment №1” is a project by Olga Balashova, Olga Neshta and Denys Didur.

Everyone who at least once visited contemporary art expositions would agree that children are the most thankful spectators there. Usually they are brought there by their parents, for whom artifacts are traditionally created, but children, surrounded by contemporary artwork, feel much more at home than older people. Thanks to their special perception which is unprejudiced – an incomprehensible work of contemporary art arouses their curiosity, not irritation.

“Contemporary art – is a live organism, that immediately reacts to any social change. And today it’s hard not to notice, that children become considerable players of the consumer market. As a result, we have children’s television and cinema, shores and fashion, theatres, museums and recreation centers. It’s time to take away from the adult arts monopoly.

Creating our object out of the utilized children toys, we were counting on a child’s perception, in the first place, trying to be interesting for the kids.

Those, for whom we create our object, do not need concepts, explanations or interpretations… They still perceive the world unconditionally and, thus, will be able to appreciate something, that doesn’t involve words in addition.

We value our spectators and believe that they are not just our future, but the future of the arts!”
